| Ex-Army Ranger Ben Sinclair isn’t sure he can trust Sam, but he can't turn her away. Lives are at stake and she may be the only way to capture the terrorist mastermind his team is hunting. Despite his reservations, he finds himself falling for her. But when Sam's innocence is questioned again during a botched operation in the remote mountains of Afghanistan, the team pays a terrible price for trusting her. In the wake of that staggering betrayal Ben must decide if she's the innocent woman he fell in love with, or if she's a traitor who'd set them up to die.
Reviews for No Turning Back
"Danger, fast paced action and sizzling attraction! This book grabs you in the beginning and takes you for a long, wild ride!
I felt the attraction from the hero and heroine the first time they were together, and only got more intense as you go along. A great plot, with many twists and turns, giving you a good sense of what the characters are feeling.
The book takes you on an emotional roller coaster, and rooting for the good guys the whole way. If you like romantic suspense that leaves you on the edge of your seat, then this book is a must read. With No Turning Back, Ms. Cross pens a page-turning thrill." - Siren Book Reviews
"I appreciate writers who try to illustrate the issues out there in the world. I am even more appreciative of writers who fall under the romance genre and still manage to get people reading important stories. Cross really knows her stuff, understanding how the military and other agencies operate and how things work in the Middle East. She does an incredible job of making this story seem real.
I love my romances to come with a whole lot of conflict - it makes everything to much more intense. This is an author who knows how to write incredible love scenes that are at least as much about character and story development as they are about anything else. They were really special to read.
This is book is so much more than a romance, and it should be approached that way. This is a huge story that draws you in and doesn't let you go. It’s one of those stories that really gets you thinking about some serious things, and I went through the whole range of emotions while reading it." - reader review

An Interview with Kaylea Cross
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio
HH: Kaylea, thank you for talking with us at TRS! Please tell us about your featured book, No Turning Back. KC: Thanks for having me, Holly! No Turning Back is the 3rd book of my military romantic suspense series, and it's not for squeamish readers. It's fast-paced, graphic, and steamy. It's set in Iraq and Afghanistan, and there's plenty of edge-of-your-seat military action in this one. The hero Ben Sinclair is a former Army Ranger, and the heroine Samarra (Sam) Wallace is a CIA communications expert under suspicion of aiding the terrorists their team is trying to capture.
HH: This is the third in your popular romantic suspense series. The first two books won really big awards. What can you tell us about them? KC: Well okay, since you asked ;)
Out of Her League (book 1) won an RWA Laurel Wreath for best romantic suspense last year. Cover of Darkness (book 2) and No Turning Back have both just finaled in an RWA Readers' Choice Awards contest. I'm pretty excited about that!
HH: How does No Turning Back continue the series? KC: This book picks up on a subplot in Cover of Darkness, where Ben is trying to figure out if Sam is involved with a terrorist group. All the characters are at least mentioned in this book, so you won't be lost if you read the books individually. Together, all five books have a sweeping story arc, and I hope my readers are so wrapped up in each story that they'll want to read the rest.
HH: What can you tell us about the forthcoming Relentless? KC: Relentless just came out in July. It features Ben's twin brother, Rhys, and one of the other secondary characters from No Turning Back, Dr. Neveah Adams. It's got a different flavor than the previous two books, as it focuses more on the romance and emotional turmoil between the hero and heroine, while the suspense builds and builds until the climactic ending. (I love climactic endings!) And, it's my hottest book to date.
HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers? KC: Absolution is the fifth and final book of the series, and comes out December 10th. It features Luke (my fave character!) and his ex-wife, Emily. It's a tear jerker and absolutely wrenching, so make sure you have some tissues handy when you read it. My editor told me she cried when she read it :) (I meant that in a good way.)
HH: With the growing popularity of ebooks readers like Nook and Kindle, what do you see in the future for ebooks? KC: I think e-books will continue to become more popular, but I don't think they will ever completely replace print books. I really love the idea of being able to buy a favorite book in paperback, and I've bought many of my faves after reading the digital version first. Digital is cheaper, greener and more convenient for readers, and it's here to stay. It will be interesting to see what new technologies come out in the future.
HH: As an author, has ebook piracy had an impact on you? KC: All my books have been pirated, and it's time consuming to hunt down all the sites and them hound them with e-mails until they remove the files. At this point I have no idea how much it's cost me in lost royalties, but I'm sure the amount will add up over my career.
HH: What made you want to become an author in the first place? KC: I was a very introverted little kid, and had lots of imaginary friends to play with. As soon as I could spell, I started writing stories of my own. Guess it never really left me, but I didn't get serious with it until I was pregnant with my first child. (What was I thinking???)
HH: What is your happiest moment as an author to this point? KC: The happiest moment? Jeez, that's a toughie. It's either receiving my first contract, or being notified of the Laurel Wreath win. But getting a contract for the fifth book was really cool too (getting a contract is always cool though), because it meant I could actually plot and write a series worthy of publication.
HH: Any big plans for the fall? KC: I'm so glad you asked :) My littlest one will have preschool three mornings a week beginning in September, and I'm stoked. Three mornings a week to write! Plus my awesome critique partner might be coming up from MS to stay with me for a few days. We've been working together for about 18 months now, and we've got a great rapport. It's really weird because while we've never met, I e-mail her pretty much every day, and she's become one of my bestest friends. Can't wait to meet her!
HH: Thank you!
