An excerpt from A Temporary Arrangement
About Tricia Jones
The romantic in me likes to think I was born with my head in a book, then someone stuck a pen in my hand and I haven’t stopped writing since.
I write contemporary romance with strong, sexy heroes who like their own way and heroines who give as good as they get. The settings for my stories are real places - although names have been changed to protect the innocent -and I like nothing better than checking out those places first hand, especially if they happen to be in France or Italy. If I'm inspired to check out some potential hero types amongst those Mediterranean males while I'm there ... well, a girl's only human.

An Interview with Tricia Jones
By Katie Raines for The Romance StudioKR: Thanks for talking with us at TRS, Tricia. Please tell us about your featured book, A Temporary Arrangement. TJ: Thank you for having me here. A Temporary Arrangement is Finn and Thia's story - here's the blurb:
With his sister’s recent death heavy on his conscience, Finn Montgomery wants custody of his seven year old nephew. That means finding a suitable woman and making her an offer she can't refuse. Thia Conway needs a miracle. Too bad that miracle comes in the shape of a ruthless and arrogant businessman who views a marriage proposal as just another clause in a contract – a contract Thia has no option but to sign.
KR: Your hero and heroine need each other but not the way lovers do -- at first. Where did you get the idea for this emotionally-charged story? TJ: I love marriage of convenience stories and adore alpha heroes. Putting the two together was too juicy a prospect to miss. Finn is a real hardnosed businessman, while Thia is more family orientated. It was fun watching them interact and eventually sort out their differences.
KR: What do you like best about Thia and how do you relate to her? TJ: Thia puts people first and will do just about anything to protect the people she loves most. Life deals her a sharp blow and while she struggles with the morality of Finn's offer, it is her last resort. I like her tenacity and her stubborn streak.
KR: How do you redeem an arrogant, ruthless businessman? TJ: Ah, the six million dollar question. Finn has a vulnerable side to him but, following an event for which he holds himself responsible, he locks that part of himself away...until Thia prods it to life again.
KR: What did you enjoy most about writing this story? TJ: I liked the push-pull of Finn and Thia's relationship. Thia refuses to be ignored, while Finn doesn't really know what's hit him.
KR: You've written contemporary romance to this point. Would you ever consider writing in another genre? TJ: Contemporary romance will always be my first love. but I'm always willing to try my hand at just about any other genre. Currently, I'm working on two contemporaries, but have a paranormal and a romantic suspense simmering in the background.
KR: How did you get your start as a writer? TJ: While I've always made up stories in my head, the day job in adult education took up most of my writing energy. Then in 2000 I had one of those milestone birthdays and thought I had to get serious if I ever wanted to achieve my dream of being published in romantic fiction. I finaled in The Molly and The Jasmine contests with my first attempts and that really gave me the confidence to keep pushing forward, although by then I was so hooked on writing romance there was no way I was ever going to stop.
KR: How have things changed for you since then? TJ: I've always been pretty disciplined and have set my own writing goals, but being published has made me view writing as a job as well as a passion. Besides bashing out the pages, there's promo to consider now, plus I've set myself a higher daily word count.
KR: What else do you have coming up for lucky readers? TJ: The print version of A Temporary Arrangement will be released on January 2, 2009, followed by the print version of Satin Lies from Samhain Publishing in April.
KR: What's your favorite way to interact with readers? TJ: Any way is great, but I love hearing from readers direct, especially via my website www.tricia-jones.com.
Thanks, Katie!
HH: Thank you!
