The only person she can trust besides God to help her is the man who was both her and her late husband's best friend-the three amigos in high school.

And then there were two. Or were there? Sheriff's deputy Adam Quinn needs to find out if his friend is dead, or just gone into hiding waiting to make contact with his wife. In order to find out so Adam can bring the suspected gun smuggler to justice, he needs to get close to his best friend's widow-the only woman he's ever loved. "Web of Deceit is an engaging read. I immediately was drawn into this page-turner and didn't want to put it down. Faith, Adam, and Matthew are well-drawn characters and exhibit so much humility and realism throughout, that it was as if I was a part of their world. The colorful casts of characters are well-developed and helped the storyline to flow smoothly. It was like getting to know a whole town. It displays all the right elements, in making a stirring read that latches onto the reader, and leaves a great impression even after it has ended. Kim Watters blends a wonderful tale, with remarkable visualization that draws in the audience. She had me completely hooked with this nail-biting story. She blends a clever plot, with action, that keeps the reader glued. With some suspense, mixed with betrayal, deceit and some evil villains, thrown in, this is one outstanding story, and one, highly recommended read."

"This is the story of 2 people brought together by their faith in God. One wanting to go home again, and the other to be with the woman whom he has loved for years. And hoping he finally has the chance to live his dream. He is also there to watch her and see if her husband is truly dead or if it all is just a lie. But his heart tells him she is telling the truth."

"I really liked this story. It was very refreshing. Thumbs Up for this author. I hope to see more books like this from her."

Romance Junkies Blue Ribbon Rating: 4, Reviewed by Scarlet
"Faith and Adam are likable characters; personable, intelligent, caring and honorable. Though Faith is naïve in her husband's illegal activities, she does provide a safe and comforting life for her child. Her unbending faith and trust in God is a vital part of her character. Adam is a memorable hero in that he has loved Faith for years though he put his own feelings aside to allow her to follow her heart. He is protective, loyal, chivalrous, and dedicated to God and his duty. The struggle he has with the deception he must carry out is realistically portrayed. The numerous twists and turns of the storyline led this reader on a merry chase; author, Kim Watters kept me guessing to the end. A fine addition to the Romantic Suspense or Inspirational genre, WEB OF DECEIT is a great story to choose."

About Kim Watters

At twelve years old, I fell in love with romance after I borrowed a romance novel from the book shelf of my older sister. An avid reader, I was soon hooked on the happily ever after endings. For years, I dreamt of writing my own romance novel, but I never seemed to have the time. After I graduated from college with a degree in Business Administration/Management. I moved into the city of Chicago to pursue another dream. I worked as an actress and a model and traveled around the country doing conventions for several large corporations. Ironically enough, I met my future husband, (of course he didn't know that yet) who lived in Arizona. Tired after six years of the hustle and bustle of the city, I relocated to a small town in Arizona just north of Phoenix where there are no sidewalks or public transportation and the cowboys still ride their horses to the bars. The wide open spaces of Arizona gave me the inspiration to sit down and finally begin to write. That, and the purchase of a home computer. Eight years and three manuscripts later, I sold my first novel to Avalon Books. I'm currently employed at a local golf resort in Arizona as Administrative Assistant/Accountant. When I'm not crunching numbers, I'm crunching the keys on my computer keyboard before my family wakes up. I still live in that small town, with my own hero--my husband, Bill, my son, Shane, daughter, Emily, and three Frisbee® dogs.

An Interview with Kim Watters
By Holly Hewson Marketing Director for The Romance Studio

HH: Kim, welcome to TRS! Please tell us about your featured work, Web of Deceit.

KW: Web of Deceit is an inspirational suspense revolving around gun smuggling. Our heroine, Faith Callahan, returns to her home town after her husband’s disappearance, only to discover her problems haven’t gone away, they’ve only gotten worse. Some one is following her, watching her every move, and breaking into her home. So along with keeping her family’s hardware store from going bankrupt, she’s also trying to lead a normal life with her son and piece together why someone thinks she knows something of her husband’s activities.

Our hero, Adam Quinn, is Faith’s childhood friend, who has been hired by Faith to help run the store. But Adam is really there on another mission. He’s also been approached by the ATF to keep tabs on Faith to determine if she’s part of the smuggling ring. He’s been in love with Faith since the second grade, and is caught up in the web along side her as they uncover the truth about Steve Callahan’s smuggling.

HH: Your heroine’s life is crumbling around her and there is only one person she can count on. Where did you get the idea for this thrilling, suspenseful tale?

KW: The tiny kernel that started this particular book was an article on gun smuggling I read in the newspaper. Like most of my books, I started asking myself a series of what if or why questions? Why would Faith return to her home town? What type of activity would her husband be involved in that could jeopardize Faith’s life? Why would her old childhood friend need to be close to her? What if Adam wasn’t the person she thought he was? How would that change things?

HH: What do you like best about Faith Callahan?

KW: Aside from the fact we’re a lot alike? I love how she never gives up on God, no matter how much her faith is tested. She adores her son and will do anything to protect him. Like Faith, I have an aversion of guns, but would not hesitate to use one if I had to. I can’t say anymore because I don’t want to give away too much of the story.

HH: What does it take to create a really good story with many plot twists and turns?

KW: A great critique group and a few red herrings. Seriously though, I struggle sometimes with goals and motivation, so keeping them in the front of my mind along with a detailed outline and timeline helped. A very vivid imagination and discovering what would be the worst possible thing that could go wrong doesn’t hurt either.

HH: What are you working on now?

KW: I’m working on a proposal for Harlequin Super Romance-Maggie’s Wish, which is about organ donation-a subject near and dear to my heart. My sister-in-law is a double recipient of a liver and kidney. Without the transplant, she wouldn’t be alive to welcome her future grandson who will be born in March.

HH: Our sincerest hopes that she continues to do well. What else do you have in store for readers in 2008?

KW: I’ve got nothing contracted yet, but I have two short projects in the works for The Wild Rose Press: One for the Last Rose line and another for the Vintage Line. Who knows, I’m sure other short stories will pop into my brain between now and the end of the year. That’s what I love about The Wild Rose Press and e-publishers, there is the short time span between acceptance and publication so keep checking my website or join my newsletter for updates.

HH: How is the life of a writer different from the life of an actress and model?

KW: Wow. Now that’s a question. For one thing, as a writer you can go to work in your pajamas with your hair in a ponytail and no makeup. But realistically, they are not that much different. You need talent and you need to believe in yourself. There’s hundreds, if not thousands, of people who all want to do what you do. You need to be dedicated, learn the craft and do the things required for each industry whether it’s filming a commercial, shooting a catalog or writing a book.

HH: What do you enjoy most about being a writer?

KW: I love being able to create memorable characters that you can route for, and stories that stick with you long after you’ve finished the book. I also like all the wonderful friends I’ve made, both writers and readers alike.

HH: What do find challenging about your career?

KW: One of the most challenging things is juggling a full time job, two children, a husband while still finding time to write my stories. Let’s not forget to mention doing all the PR work and web presence I need to do to get my name out there. Thank you so much for this opportunity!

HH: What would you most like for readers to know about you?

KW: That I’m a really shy person. Really! Put me in a room full of strangers and I clam up. I have to mentally prepare myself to speak or approach a group of people. I usually have to revert to that actress persona and treat it like a job until I get comfortable with the situation. So if you ever run into me and I smile but don’t say a word, it’s not you, it’s me!

I also enjoy hearing from my readers, so feel free to e-mail me through my website at www.kimwatters.com.

Thank you Holly!
