Reviews for Only in Her Dreams

"Only in Her Dreams by Rayna Vause is a cute paranormal romance with an element of suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat. The characters of Rachel and Jack appear to be polar opposites both in personality and in lifestyle choices, so how could they possibly end up together. Also, each of them have been wounded in love before and want nothing to do with it. Ms. Vause does a marvelous job of bringing the two characters together through the strange situations they encounter as the battle of the sexes rages on between them. Are you looking for the action of a suspense story, the amazing elements of psychic predictions, and the entertainment value of a romance between extreme opposites; then read Only in Her Dreams." - 5 Angels, Stephanie B., Fallen Angels Reviews

About Rayna Vause

If you ask my mother, she'll tell you she knew from the time I was a little girl that I was going to be a writer. I used to pen short stories all the time. When I hit my teenage years, just to be contrary, I insisted that being an author was not in my future. However, it was about this same time that I started my love affair with romance novels. Little did I know where this new found fascination would lead me. It was during a college fiction writing class that I finally clued into the fact that Mom was right. Giving up my scientific ambitions, I set my sites on becoming a published romance novelist and graduated with a B.A. in English concentrating in creative writing. With the release of my first book, Only in Her Dreams, the first step in my dream was realized.

When I'm not creating tales stories filled with a bit of the paranormal and a touch of suspense, I work in a marketing and tradeshow coordination. I'm a member an active member of NJRW and the Kiss of Death Chapter. I'm also a voracious reader, a video game addict, and one of the world's biggest Disney fans.

An Interview with Rayna Vause
By Holly Hewson, Marketing Director for The Romance Studio

HH: Rayna, welcome to TRS! Please tell us about your featured work, Only in Her Dreams.

RV: Hello, thanks for having me.Only in Her Dreams is about Rachel Walker, a psychic and tarot card reader and Jack Morgan, a wealthy and skeptical CEO. From the moment Rachel first sees Jack, horrifying visions of her own drowning death begin to haunt her. Knowing that Jack is connected to these terrifying visions, she is determined to keep her distance from him, but fate has other plans. They are brought together by a freak accident, and forced even closer by an undeniable attraction and the very real threats of a stalker. Together, Jack and Rachel must figure out who is terrorizing her before Rachel’s dreams become a reality.

HH: Your heroine is a tarot card reader with a growing problem and your hero is a sensible CEO. Where did you get the idea for this amazing romance?

RV: I don’t remember the specific inspiration for the initial version of the story. As I wrote and rewrote, I incorporated things that I knew about from my own experiences to help shape the characters. The tarot card reader aspect was inspired by my mother, the water and boating aspects, and setting for that matter, inspired by my father. But the rest of the story came into being over time. It is sort of a conglomeration of ideas the sprung up in brainstorming sessions with friends and, of course, trial and error. Let me tell you, I wrote myself into many a corner before I finally made it to "The End".

HH: Okay, this is your first story. Where were you when you learned you published and how did you react? <g>

RV: I was at home. I had literally just rolled out of bed, went to my computer and logged into my email. Right at the top of the list was a message from the editor at The Wild Rose Press who had requested to see my full manuscript. I almost walked away from it because I really didn’t want to read a rejection letter before I had a cup of coffee, but curiosity won. When I saw it was an offer for a contract I freaked. I was so excited. I grabbed the phone and called my mother first and then proceeded to call all of my friends to share the news. It was a really good day. <g>

HH: What are you working on now?

RV: I’ve got a number of projects in progress, but right now my main focus is on a m/m erotic romance. Pretty much everything I write has some sort of paranormal aspect to it and this is no different. This book also has a little bit of murder and mayhem going on as well. I’ve got three other stories in varying stages of completion. Plus I’m considering doing a novella follow up to Only in Her Dreams.

HH: What else can readers look forward to from you in 2008?

RV: Since Only in Her Dreams just came out in late November, I’m going to be doing a number of chats, interviews, and signings. I’ve got a calendar of all of this posted on my website and I do hope some of you will join me. I also hope that I’ll have news about my current project soon, though.

HH: How long have you been writing?

RV: I’ve been writing for about seven years. In the beginning I would write in spurts and much of that I trashed. It took a while to settle into a plot line that I liked and bring it through to completion.

HH: What goals have you set for yourself at this point in your career?

RV: Well, my goal is to get more books written and sold and build up my name. I think there are definite benefits to be selling to both epublishers and NYC publishing houses. So, what I’m working toward at this point is having books available though the large publishing houses and small presses. It will take time and patience, but I’ve got to believe that I can accomplish what I set out to do.

HH: You consider yourself one of the world’s biggest Disney fans. Tell us about this.

RV: I love Disney. One of my life goals is to travel to all of the theme park locations around the world. So far I’ve been to two of the five. Disney World in Florida is an annual destination for me. In fact, I usually go more then once a year. For me, going to Disney is like stepping out of reality for a little while and going to a place where there are no cares or worries, just pure happiness and the possibility that all your dreams and wishes can come true. I also have all types of Disney collections: clothes, trading pins, snow globes, lamps, Christmas tree ornaments, movies, music, coffee mugs and probably a bunch more that I’m not remembering at the moment. When you get that much enjoyment out of a place why wouldn’t you want to try and bring just a little bit of it home with you?

HH: What do you enjoy reading?

RV: I tend to pick up paranormal or romantic suspense novels more often then not. I think a characters with an out of the ordinary trait makes for a fun read. Which is why I like vampires, shapeshifters, psychics, etc. Of course, lives in peril can really make for a gripping read. I also lean more toward reading the hotter books. Some of my favorite authors are Nora Roberts, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Christine Feehan, Janet Evanovich, Ally Blue, and Jet Mykles and that’s just for starters. I try to be open to pretty much any type of romance.

HH: What you most like for readers to know about you?

RV: It may not seem like it when people first meet me, but I’m a really chatty person. Hence, all the ways I have for people to come talk to me. I’ve got my website where you can, of course, email me. I’ve also got a myspace page www.myspace.com/summerangel726, a blog http://raynavause.blogspot.com and a discussion forum that you can link to from my home page. I very much enjoy hearing from people.

Thanks so much for having me! Wishing everyone a happy and prosperous 2008!

HH: Thank you!
