Shelli Stevens

Madison's needs are simple. All she wants are two things: Make Ooo La Latte the newest trend in espresso, and seduce the sexiest cop in Seattle. But things aren't going exactly as planned.

Available in January from Samhain Publishing

First, Gabe's a little hung up on the fact that she's his best friend's little sister, and he's determined to keep his hands off. Second, her shop gets robbed by the increasingly violent Espresso Bandit, and now she's the only one who can identify him.

Gabe whisks her into hiding for her own protection, but soon finds his heart is under assault by the luscious—and persistent—Madison. But no mattetter where they hide, danger follows.

On such dangerous grounds, the trick will be to live long enough to keep the flame alive.

Reviews for Dangerous Grounds

"Shelli Steven's Dangerous Grounds is one sexy read! Friends to lovers is one of my favorite themes and in Dangerous Grounds Stevens gives us a mouthwateringly masculine and sexy hero who'll protect the heroine with his own life. Wonderful sexual tension, witty dialog and a well written suspense backstory team up to give readers a thrilling ride." Lauren Dane, author of Samhain's Chase brothers series.

An Interview with Shelli Stevens
By Holly Hewson, Marketing Director for The Romance Studio

HH: Shelli, welcome back to TRS! Please tell us about your featured work, Dangerous Grounds.

SS: love this story. It's a spicy romance with some suspense thrown in, and centers around the friends to lovers theme and is really a rather a fun

HH: What's special about this book to you?

SS: Dangerous Grounds is the second single title book I ever wrote. It's the first book that I put suspense into, and I have to say I really enjoy it! I may have to do it again. I did some hands on research for this book (including strippercize and 'how to start your own espresso business' classes).

HH: Where did you get the idea for this sexy entrepreneur and the man determined to protect her?

SS: Well, I live in the Pacific Northwest, where coffee is huge. And I thought it would be fun to incorporate that into my book, so I made my heroine go into the coffee business and open her own cute little shop. And then, I'd always wanted to write a cop hero, and this book gave me the perfect opportunity since she gets targeted by the Espresso Bandit.

HH: What do you like best about Gabe?

SS: He's a tormented hero. Maybe that's a bit of a sadistic reason as why to I like him, but I do. He has so much love to give, but doesn't think he's worthy of being loved. He's tormented and needs help forgiving himself for past events.

HH: So what are you working on now?

SS: Early in the fall I finished a light contemporary romance that I just love! It's out and about for consideration right now, so keep your fingers crossed! I'm currently finishing up another spicy, somewhat light, romance called Taken which has a tiny bit of a 'My Best Friend's Wedding' feel, but takes an erotic twist when the hero commits a felony to keep the heroine on her best behavior.

HH: What do you have in store for readers in 2008?

SS: In April, I actually have a book entitled Tempting Adam that releases from Samhain. This is Christy's story. Christy makes an appearance in my book Dangerous Grounds and readers will get a glimpse of how this woman needs her own happily ever after.

HH: When and where do you like to write?

SS: I tend to write in bed at night. I have a young daughter and it's hard to focus with her awake and running wild.

HH: Do you write from start to finish or do you write the scenes out of order?

SS: I most always write from start to finish. Sometimes, if I'm really stuck, or a certain scene demands to be written, I might jump ahead. But almost always it's start to finish. It just doesn't make sense to me the other way!

HH: You've quickly become a very established and popular author. What, in your opinion, is the secret of your success?

SS: Well, first, thank you! That just made my day . I'm really not sure what the secret of success is, except writing a good book and then following it up with more good books. I try to be active online and in the writing community, just making it a point to meet new people. But really, you can't force someone to love your writing, or make them read your book (well, maybe you can force the relatives and friends to read them! ;) So the fact that so many people have picked up my books, and seem to enjoy them is such a rewarding thrill for me. (Thanks and hugs to all that have!)

HH: Of all that you've accomplished in your career to this point, what are you most proud of?

SS: I'm proud that I decided not to stifle my 'voice' in my books. Sometimes I have a sarcastic, random, and maybe even offensive style of humor and at one point I made myself stomp it out; just write the straight laced romances. But now... it's me. I am who I am, and I think it what makes my writing different. I'm proud of myself for sticking to my guns.

HH: Thank you!
