| Erin Riley is eagerly anticipating the return of her fiancé, Patrick O'Rourke. He has been overseas fighting but his return is imminent and Erin cannot wait. Until she reads his latest email where he breaks up with her, claiming she is a different person now. Erin is heartbroken and angry. She knows she has put on some weight since he went away but she thought Patrick would love her despite it. Erin is not sure what to do but she cannot let things end the way they are, so she plans an intimate homecoming.
Patrick thought breaking up with Erin was the best thing to do. But when he sees her at his apartment, he is sucked back into the hope she brings to him. Patrick loves Erin, but Erin has a tough job ahead of her of breaking through Patrick's devastation and loss. Will their relationship survive? Incredibly sexy and equally poignant, Wounded Hearts battles some tough psychological territory but does it with finesse. Ms. Andrews gives the worries and hurts of both her protagonists' equal weight. They have a lot to juggle after being apart for so long, but they are also forceful personalities who will not be denied. Patrick and Erin definitely have some kinks to work out in their relationship but thankfully and incredibly erotically, it is done in the bedroom in scenes of D/s, bondage, hot wax, and other sexual twists. Ms. Andrews does not use these maneuvers gratuitously however. Each scene is written with the idea of reconnecting these characters. Erin and Patrick won my heart and definitely found a way to reconcile their past and present relationship. This book is timely and evocative emotion.
