| Due to an unfortunate incident involving the former owner of her store and a certain portal to Hell, Emilie’s status as a witch and her magick shop are not receiving a warm welcome in her new home town. As a matter of fact, one particular inhabitant, Daniel, presented a proposal to the town leaders that would involve banning all magick from the town. Talk about ungrateful citizens. They have conveniently forgotten that Emilie’s coven saved the town from the portal, but Emilie is determined to make a success of her shop. Imagine her surprise when Daniel of all people requests her help to cure his younger brother of lycanthropy. She would dearly love to refuse, but her better nature and attraction to Daniel make another decision for her.
This is a wonderful tale of magic in a small town. Emilie practices her witchcraft in public and is shunned for it. She might not be a particularly good witch, but she hurts no one and can’t understand the level of hostility that Daniel has for her. Daniel is hiding a secret in his family tree and hopes to keep it secret while curing his brother. The chemistry between the two main characters is very hot, and the supporting cast is also very good. Vance is a very sympathetic character, and Emilie’s cousin Charlotte and Vance’s fiancée Bethany add another dimension to the tale. I would like to read more about all of them.
