| Wedding planner Leigh Strong isn't looking for a lasting relationship -- especially one with her best friend's future brother-in-law Craig MacGilvary. Sparks fly when they are in the same room much to the amusement of their friends and family. Craig is too much like her ex and she refuses to go down that path again.
S.W.A.T police officer Craig is more than happy to stay single and in control, unlike his brothers. He definitely doesn't want to tie himself to a woman that has as much personal baggage as he does. But Leigh's bristly demeanor and, at times, vulnerability, call to him and threatens that control. The more time they spend together the more empathic they feel towards each other. From the initial sparks, friendship and trust develop. Buds of desire, blossom into to full bloom. Both Leigh and Craig have pasts that threaten their growing affection for each other. Trust comes slowly. Their relationship is volatile, filled with sexual tension. But it soon becomes apparent to both of them, that looking below the surface, will show them that there is more than a façade. Within His Embrace is Denise's fourth book in her Hearts of Justice series featuring the S.W.A.T cops of El Torro County. This book can be read alone. But hey, you don't want to miss the previous three. Characters from previous books make appearances, adding smooth continuity. Denise's style of tension-filled sensuality shines through in this marvelous novel. I loved the squabbling and banter between the hero and heroine but also between Craig and his brothers. It's fun and delightfully entertaining, adding some light relief, especially during some pretty intense, terrifying situations. Denise's scenes with the S.W.A.T team appear realistic and well executed and had me breathless with anticipation and my imagination running riot with the visuals of these powerful, fit men. It's a superbly entertaining novel. A novel that shouldn't be missed. Add it to the previous ones and you have a highly entertaining, riveting and thrilling series of the highest caliber, very deserving of its five hearts.
