At twenty-seven, lovely Lily can't see herself married. Intellectual and full-figured have never seemed to be the wants of an early 19th century man. Lily is happy with single state so when a bet is made, she must win. Meeting Christopher at a dinner party could be the best or worst thing that ever happened.

After a disastrous moment at the dinner party, Christopher finds himself wagering something he never wants to lose, bachelorhood. He seems to think that Lily needs a keeper because of her continual "bad luck." Only problem is that winning may be just as bad as losing.

This is a story that had me laughing out loud. 2008 NaNoWriMo writer, Sandra Sookoo, is quickly becoming a favorite of mine with her quirky romances and intriguing characters. Slowly, an attraction builds between the two stubborn main characters, Lily and Christopher. The stirrings in her stomach and even her heart that Lily feels for Christopher are confusing to her. While Christopher wants nothing more than to ignore the unbidden thoughts of Lily that keep creeping into his mind. Being a well rounded woman has never been so sexy and Lily easily proves it. The delightfully erratic and eccentric family members all around made me smile as they schemed for the perfect romance. Now while I love a good main character, it's the supporting characters that really make the story. Zelma, Christopher's crazy aunt, is just the type of supporting character that makes every moment of romance so much better.

If you want a historical romance that keeps you on the edge of your seat, this is the one for you. Sandra Sookoo brings romance to life with her bold characters and great story lines. This is a sweet story that is worth reading over and over.
