Ren Jamieson needs money and fast seeing as the insurance company won't give her the money owed to her from her late husband's life-insurance policy after he's killed during an avalanche. Hoping to make a sale and get the commission from a high-priced property she shows to a potential buyer in order to get the money she needs, she doesn't expect for the man to be so difficult nor interested in her.

Cole Matthews has ulterior motives for relocating to Australia as he believes himself responsible for the deaths of his brother and best friend. When he comes face to face with his best friend's widow, he can't help but become embroiled in her life and making sure she has everything she needs to make sure her future is secure.

His Unexpected Family was certainly an interesting read with a plot that was challenging for both the hero and heroine as they both needed things to happen in their lives to make them happy. The dialogue was interesting with Cole needing to feel wanted like he'd never been before since his mother always believed him second-rate compared to his brother. Ren had felt the same thing because she always believed that her husband loved his extreme sports more than he did her. The sex scenes were hot and I loved the way Cole made Ren feel more alive than her husband did even though she loved her husband very much. What I liked so much about Ren was how she kept pushing herself through the hard times in her life and didn't let it get her down as much as it should have. While with Cole, I liked how he wanted to become her knight in shining armour even though it was for the wrong reasons at the start.

In conclusion, this was a great read which I'd recommend to readers that love a knight in shining armour hero that will do anything to see that the heroine gets everything she deserves.
