| Samantha Rutledge is very happy that her twin Alexander has found his mate and she loves Bella, but she still is leery of relationships. A former lover used her to find out more about her family and she is not willing to be betrayed like that again. That does not stop Bella from trying to play matchmaker. She introduces her to her cousin Callum and there is instant attraction leading to a particularly fiery interlude, but Callum is on his way to Australia for a job and there is no future in the encounter. That is until Callum comes home and Sammi has to investigate the disappearance of two cubs from the family wolf sanctuary. Callum is the last one to see the cubs and Sammi is going to stick close until they are found.
This series is a favorite of mine and I was happy to read this latest chapter. If you are looking for a werewolf story though, this is not it. Sam’s wolf side is mentioned briefly, but there is no shape shifting at all in the story. There is however, a very sensual love story with very strong and attractive characters that I liked immediately. Callum and Sam’s encounters are full of sexual chemistry and I enjoyed Alex and Bella’s little manipulations, not that they were really necessary. Sam and Cal’s mating is inevitable, but it is fun to read about them getting there. The final scene is also very entertaining and a bit out of character for Sam, but that’s what makes it so much fun. This story is a very welcome addition to the series.
