| In my opinion, she saved the best for last. Miller, the oldest Thorn son, had been through a rough lifetime. He was the one who suffered most at the hand of his abusive father. One serious relationship ended when Emily decided she wanted someone richer. The other ended with him left standing at the altar when Denae decided she couldn’t marry him. Nothing ever seemed to work for Miller. His lifetime was solitary; he didn’t talk much, even to his own family. He was known as the withdrawn one. He never blamed anyone for his problems, but he never felt part of the close-knit family bond.
Kaycee Hollenbeck saved her money to travel to the Australian outback to start a new life. She had killed her abusive husband Doug when he beat her so badly that she lost her little girl at five months pregnancy. She felt that she could work as a registered nurse for a year and get her feelings straightened out and live through her grief. When she was seated next to Miller on the airplane, she took the advice of her best friend, Gina, and propositioned him for a one-night stand. Melissa Lopez finalized her trilogy with the story of the oldest brother who, I believe, was the best of all. Her characters were diverse and detailed. Her primary couple was amazing. Their relationship took so many turns during the book that there was never a dull moment. The accompanying cast was made up of people we met in the other books and who had become old friends. The language was graphic, the sensual scenes were sizzling and the storyline was cohesive. The book was one I could not put down. I read it all in one day and it’s not a short book. I recommend this book, and the series, to anyone who loves to follow family ties and isn’t afraid of explicit scenes and words. I loved this book and wish there were more brothers to add to the series. The ending was shockingly fabulous!
