It absolutely amazes me how each book written by Cat Johnson seems better than the last! This trilogy is about three different men who are military, members of Task Force Zeta, special operations unit. This team consisted of 7 men, including the Commander. Three of them were covered in Trilogy No. 103: Red Hot & Blue. This one covers three more of the men, equally as entertaining.

“The Commander,” the first of this trilogy, is Hank Miller. Divorced, with a 23-year-old daughter, he had no romantic ties; their missions did not make for easy relationships. One of his soldiers, Jimmy, was getting married and wanted his team to be in his wedding; Hank suggested they take leave so they would not be called to duty, and they all set out for Pigeon Hollow, where the Gordon brothers were from. There Hank met Lois, the mother of three, who immediately caught Hank’s attention. Trying not to act on those feelings was extremely difficult.

“Bull” tells the story of Bull (Gerald) Ford, who caught his girlfriend naked in her hot tub with another man; the next day he was assigned an undercover operation involving a senator and a formal party. The probable planting of a bomb at the party by a group of terrorists got sticky when Bull suspected Marly Spencer, the harpist hired to entertain the party crowd.

Poor “Matt,” is the computer geek whose brilliance kept the team on track. His counterpart with the team Omega was named Sam; they corresponded quite a bit and knew lots about each other. They had not, however, ever met. When they were both assigned to Saudi Arabia, each with separate missions and unaware of the other’s work, they finally met.

Again, I have to repeat myself; I love Cat Johnson and her work! I now actively seek out anything written by her. This book proves, once again, that she can excel at her craft. She has once more captivated her audience; when I started reading, I could not stop! The characters are great and their flaws and strengths make them real! Wonderful book!
