| Reunited with her mother and husband, Jayce, after thousands of years apart, Mei, along with her new husband, Card, has to accept that her mother didn’t exile her and her first husband, Jayce, is not dead. Not everything is roses as Mei has been through so much, as well as Jayce, who believed her to be dead. Instead, she spent many years in a demon prison, the victim of vicious attacks and rapes and mental anguish. War is just beginning for them and they have to bond together to save the humans. Magically they are helped to become a powerful threesome.
While Threat of Darkness was a little confusing at times, it is very apparent this author spent a lot of time organizing her notes and crafting a riveting tale of dark forces battling the good. Mei’s relationship with her mates, Jayce and Card, is the most important part of this story. Their love and concern for her keeps her sane and bolsters her spirits when her body is depleted of magic. We get to revisit characters from the Witches Knot series, and that’s always exciting to see how past heroes and heroines are faring. It looks like enough loose ends are left for there to be more stories with these characters. The parallel between Mei’s job as a warrior battling the forces of good and evil and the theme of the book is very apparent as the story progresses.
