Jamie Campbell was mad, tired and just plain pissed. She had been having nothing but bad luck for two months. It seemed like everything in her life was hexed. When would it ever stop? Her new friend Maigret, who is a Wiccan, suggested she get a good luck charm; it couldn’t do any harm right? Maigret told her to try The Broom Closet; they carried all sorts of charms and such.

When Jamie gets to the store she sees a dusty, dirty store that hasn’t been cleaned in many years and an old man who looked like he belonged in times gone by. There was one thing though; he had the greenest eyes she’d ever seen. The wrinkles in his face looked like the dried, cracked plane of a desert. He asks Jamie what she was looking for. "I need a good luck charm," she tells him. He tells her he will need to read her aura in order to tell which charm she needs. Jamie decides this is too strange so she leaves.

After she left, the old man mumbles a phrase and concentrates, and the store as well as he change. Where once stood an old man, now stands a young, very handsome man. He watched Jamie leave and he knows she is his other half.

Chad Penwarren is a witch and all his powers tell him that Jamie is being hexed. He must find out who would want to hurt her. First he must make a charm that will protect Jamie. Chad wonders who told Jamie about the store. He doesn’t believe in coincidence, someone had a purpose for sending her here.

Maigert knew the moment she met Jamie that she was the right one for her brother Chad. Maigert’s power of empathy tells her as much. Now all she has to do is get them together. She knows it will be hard. Jamie has been hurt badly in the past. And Jamie’s non-belief in magic and witches wasn’t going to help.

Chad isn’t wrong about there being someone who wants to hurt Jamie. There is a dark force hanging over her. He has all but one of the elements needed to make Jamie’s charm. What could be the missing element? Chad knows he must find it or Jamie may not live long enough to realize she is destined to be with him.

I loved this story. It’s so well written. The words on each page just seemed to come alive as I read. It is my feelings that when a story enables the reader to feel like their a part of the story they are reading, well to me that is magic. Karin Huxman has done just that. I found myself sharing everything that Chad and Jamie were going through. I’ll be keeping an eye on this lady and I can’t wait to get her other books. I give this story five hearts. Enjoy!
