Robyn has known Erik since they were twelve years old. Every year as a child she would count the days until the big camping trip. There should would meet him and they would spend a week or two together, the rest of the time they kept in touch through the mail and phone conversation. Erik was Robyn's best friend and in all there years together he never looked at her as a girl. However, Robyn knows that lasting friendship turned into a lot more for her years ago. She knows that she's not Erik's type and she definitely won't do anything to jeopardize their friendship. So she keeps her feelings to herself hoping that one day maybe her dreams will come true.

Erik will never forget that day on the lake when he and Robyn were in their early teens. They were talking about driving and dating when she confessed she hadn't been on a date yet, and then she explained that her father didn't want her being alone with a boy. That's the conversation that broke Erik's heart, because that was the day he realized that Robyn only looked at him as her best friend. Ever since that day he has kept his feelings to himself. Even after not seeing her for five years his feelings has never changed. Ever since Robyn told him she would be alone on her birthday, she's been in his thoughts constantly and Erik knows he can't let that happen.

When Erik and Robyn go camping after five years it's quite obvious some things have changed. But one thing is for sure; their feelings for one another haven't changed and have only gotten stronger over the years. It's clear they love each other but is that enough to let this childhood friendship develop into something more?

Rida Allen is positively brilliant! Words flow from the pages of The Legacy tree like silk to bring this wonderful romance to life. Her use of real life people in real situations continues to astound me. Not only does she continue to write from the heart, but she does so with ease. Definitely another keeper from Mrs. Allen!
