The O’Neil Brothers are back. In addition to the four brothers, they have a sister, Bailey, who is wife of the current Vice President of the United States. Previous books told the stories of both Bailey and Aidan, who is involved with C.J., secret service agent who formerly was on assignment to Bailey and her children. This book gave us the beautiful, poignant story of Liam, the third brother. He had been a widower for three years, and was the father of two boys, Mike and Cleary. He worked at the family business, Bailey’s Irish Pub, as the cook and anything else necessary.

Sophie Tyler and her co-workers from Company 6 of the New York Fire Department frequented the bar which opened for them each morning for breakfast. Sophie’s roommate was getting married so she had two choices--another house mate or a second job. Bailey’s needed waitress and bartending help. Sophie, the risk taker, and Liam, the cautious one, had nothing in common except chemistry. He and his boys had already lost their wife and mother. Could they possibly take a chance on losing someone else in their lonely lives, especially when there was an arsonist seemingly stalking Sophie’s fire unit?

Ms. Kathryn Shay has once again penned a fantastic novel concerning the large O’Neil family and those they loved. The two main characters were dynamic and true-to-life. This O’Neil brother had complex issues but he also had depth of feelings yearning to escape from within him. Sophie, on the other hand, was an energetic woman who lived daily fighting the stigma of women in a typical man’s job. Her vibrant individuality was so real it was as if I was inside her body feeling her highs and lows.

The secondary cast contained a myriad of strong personalities which only enhanced this marvelously-written story. I loved everything about this book and cannot wait for her next offering. I highly recommend that everyone read this book, especially if you love action, adventure, and steamy romance.
