Led by Lillian, they learn ways to defeat demons and Heidi’s goal is to eventually bring Luke back to this world. Unfortunately, she not only brings Luke back, but his cellmate, Varin, who is a true demon, cursed by Baal himself for betrayal.
Ms. Savage continues the story originally began in Dark Desires. A rather dark storyline, rampant with all the gray shades of right and wrong, with splashes of light thrown in to tempt us with the goodness of Heidi and Luke and even to a certain extent, Varin. Of course, more questions are raised to entice us to read the next story. The reader can see the threads of the series binding together, but you will not get a happily ever after in this book, so beware. Summoning Darkness does feature a prolonged ménage scene, as well as a scene and memories of activities with other demons. Ms. Savage does an excellent job of leaving us hanging at just the right place to make us want/need to read the next book in the series.
