Darien and Chris from Heaven Sent: Faith are getting ready for Halloween. Or, in the case of Chris, for the druid celebration of Samhain. Darien comes back from pumpkin hunting and candy buying to find Chris painting wards on all the windows to prevent ghosts from entering. Since he's a druid they could really hurt him. This is the first Darien has heard about the druid ancestry but he isn't taking any chances.

Jet Mykles has given us a fun addition to her series about the all gay band Heaven Sent. If you read about the rocky beginning of the relationship it's great to see the two men settling into their own home and the durability of the relationship. Chris is a lawyer with a really serious public persona so Ms. Mykles is able to build this well. Darien isn't so sure whether this is a practical joke or deadly serious when things happen that lead him to believe it's true. Open windows, writing on the mirror that he's sure Chris couldn't have done and then the specter leaning over Chris' limp body on the floor really gets our heart racing.

Ms. Mykles just keeps weaving an excellent storyline with this couple and the band. It's easy to think this is another hit for this author who excels in building her characters and dialogue. This is well worth the read.
