| Rojan Ja'Dar gets what he wants when he wants as pirates tend to do. When he finds a small human male in the slave auction house, he decides that today he wants a pet, buying Tyion from under the nose of a cruel pirate who wanted him for his pale looks. Humans are not recognised as anything other than slaves in space, so when he realises the small human is his mate, Rojan needs to keep him safe from the pirate who wants him.
Tyion is a frightened human kidnapped from his bed to a life as a slave in space. When Rojan buys him from the slavers, Tyion doesn't know if he is better off or not until Rojan explains about life mates and agrees to take Tyion home to collect his things and his best friend Cory to join them in space. Rojan and his first officer Rav have underestimated the determination of the man who wanted Tyion until he finds his mate beaten to a pulp and Cory taken in his place. Rojan is a big and powerful man who is used to getting his way in all things and his orders being carried out without question. Finding his mate is a small frightened human comes as a shock and he soon realises that giving instructions isn't the way to build a relationship. Tyion has been taken from his bed into a world that he didn't even know existed, but his strength soon starts to shine through showing Rojan he may be small but he won't be walked on. Ms. Glenn has taken pirates and moved them to space without losing any of the lovable roguish characteristics we all adore and opening the ending for a second story of Cory's rescue by Rav.
