| A dog from the Shepherd's Watch caused Marguerite Pinkston's blindness. The company felt obliged to help out as much as possible in making Margy's transition to a blind life a little easier, and hopefully save their business. In doing so, Ren Alsatian's other brothers made it mandatory that one of the shape shifting brothers play the role, and Ren was chosen to be the Seeing Eye dog called Sherpa, a German shepherd. At first, Ren disagreed. Though as his sexual senses came alive, Ren demonstrates to Margy, as she wants to be called, how to bring her senses alive.
J. Hali Steele writes a nicely gathered novella. All senses are effectively depicted delivering a well rounded piece of work. I would have preferred reading what actually happened to make her blind. Her blindness felt somewhat like it really didn't matter. It felt like the story, in reality, wasn't about her but more about what could be done for her. I was just a little unhappy as to the way it was written into the story, almost as if it wasn't important. I found that the sounds were nicely written making the shape-shifting more realistic. I did like the story, and this is an enticing short story that can be read in an evening.
