Sydney Morgan, single mother of a nine-year-old son, has tried for years to climb the corporate ladder. This was hampered when she left a near-perfect job after becoming pregnant with the boss’s baby; since he was about to marry another, she left without telling him. Ten years later, struggling on less salary, perks, and job satisfaction, she comes full circle and is assigned to work directly with the CEO from her past, Grant Sinclair. There will be no promotion, no raise, just more responsibility and a lot of one-on-one with Mr. Sinclair. Could things get worse?

The situation between Sydney and Grant was volatile. The circumstances were impossible to keep impersonal, especially with Grant determined to pick up where they had left off ten years ago. The passion was still explosive! When Grant decided he wanted her to work for him again, he made it impossible for her to remain at her present job. She decided to take a vacation and visit her parents (where her son, Brian) was spending the summer. What transpired while she was there is astonishing!

I absolutely loved this book; I could not put it down; each page was better than the last. Sydney and Grant were perfect for each other; he respected her opinion. He did not present a “glass ceiling” for his female employees. There was definitely room at “the top” for her. Sydney knew that, sooner or later, she would have to tell Grant about Brian. The more attention he gave her, the more she dreaded having to tell him that she had kept this secret for 10 years.

The author, Ms. Roy, allowed Sydney to have a strong personality and vast ability to do her job, but also permitted her to show her softer, more sensitive side. The more the two were together, the stronger the attraction. Grant was determined to renew the personal relationship as well as a working one; however, he did show a vulnerable side to his personality which endeared him to me, as well. The ending was unexpected, not predictable at all. I enthusiastically recommend this book!
