| Will Bruschetti was a proud Navy Seal. He was new to his neighborhood because he had swapped homes with Colby, a fellow Seal, because Will’s home was larger, and Colby’s wife was pregnant. Currently Will was living in a tiny house across the street from Lee Ann Hunt. He saw her while he was trying to repair his vintage BMW. Lee Ann walked over to introduce herself, and the rest, as we know, is the poignant story of Will and Lee Ann.
Miss Stephanie Vaughan has competently represented both the Navy and the specialized group known as the Seals. Even though the story was basically a romance, this author gave serious attention to the military and their plight while serving in Iraq. She beautifully intertwined the war effort with life back home while awaiting the arrival of the serviceman/woman of each family. This story has a well-written plot with a myriad of sensual scenes as well as conflict. The sexual encounters were cleverly penned so it was impossible not to feel the impact of those ‘long, slow kisses.’ The love shared between the two was evident to everyone except them. Each had suffered and thought they had something extra special until Will returned and heard Lee Ann talking to someone else on the phone. Will had been badly hurt when he returned from a previous assignment. That had caused him to ignore any feelings of romance—until he faced Lee Ann. These two characters were so dynamic that the intensity of the book was incredible. Their depth of feelings and the hurts and compromises required to face a possible relationship were explored by these two wounded souls. The secondary characters played great parts in the dialogue—if you’ve been around military, you know they have their own language and it was worded wonderfully. I loved this book. This author has a way of telling a story which captivated me and made me want more. There are surprises throughout the book, especially at the end. I recommend this book to anyone who loves to read about second chances, military or just a charming story with a beautiful ending.
