| Phillip Kensington, Marquis Huntley, identical twin of Devon, was a scoundrel. His reputation was widely-known. When he ran from a gambling debt in France, he was followed, robbed and left for dead. Severely wounded, he was taken to Stanbrook Abbey where he remained unconscious for several days. A young woman, Angela Palmerston, had been assigned to care for him. Angela had been at the abbey for six years awaiting a decision whether or not to take vows to become a nun.
Phillip’s many vices were disputed by the nuns at the abbey. One by one he realized that his habits were challenged, not met, in his new surroundings. He felt that Angela was his angel but he could tell she had a sorrowful past herself. Their physical attraction to each other was electric. The two spent many hours getting to know each other as his recovery dragged and she was required to continue his care. Ms. Maya Rodale has created a near perfect novel which is a sequel to her first book in the “Negligent Chaperone” series. She generated a great alpha male who was guilty of every known vice—alcohol, gambling, stolen affections, deplorable sexual encounters, and he could see no problem with his lifestyle. That is, until he was broke, homeless, broken health-wise and determined to regain his strength. The other characters, including Angela and her friends at the Abbey, were resolute that they would help him heal while protecting Angela’s reputation. This storyline is unique and so extremely interesting that I could not put it down. The way Ms. Rodale presented the problems encountered by these two young people gave an in-depth character study which put two opposite personalities together and made something distinctive. I loved the couple and their supporting family members. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Regency Romance. This book is sure to please a particularly discerning group of people. It is definitely not one to miss.
