| England, 1848 - Thomas Collins, Earl of Claymore, no longer tutors women in the art of sex. But when Robert, the Duke of Wallingford, asks him to teach his fiancee to respond to his every desire, he is intrigued, and agrees. He despises Wallingford, however, and is also still grieving for the wife he lost three years ago.
Lady Catherine Spencer is marrying the Duke for his money - he has agreed to pay all her father's debts. She has no idea what Wallingford has planned, and when she wakes up from a drugged sleep to find herself naked and tied to the bed of a stranger, she panics. Thomas is able to quickly turn her fear into desire, and the result is scorching! Ms. Glass is able to keep it varied and interesting, and did I mention scorching?! Thomas is the master of seduction, and Catherine responds completely. It is soon obvious, to both of them, that this is more than just physical -- their emotions are involved. I found the characters quite likable - especially Thomas, mourning for his wife and struggling with his feelings for Catherine. The dialog goes a long way towards developing the characters - but Ms. Glass is also adept at "showing, not telling" and their actions and reactions are what really show who these two are. Thomas agrees to teach Catherine about sex -- but instead discovers he is falling in love. Thomas keeps Catherine blindfolded, afraid of her reaction to the fact that he is much older than she is. Will Thomas and Catherine admit their love to each other? Will Catherine still consent to marry Wallingford? I found myself hoping that these two would overcome the obstacles and against all odds, end up with their own "happily ever after". Great characters, hot sex, an unusual story - what more could you ask for? I really enjoyed this book. Bravo, Ms. Glass!
