Joe Desalvo, rising financial wizard in his Atlanta firm, returns to Louisville to bury his father after an apparent suicide. While there he checks with his Dad's favorite restoration mechanic about a classic Kaiser Darrin left to him and runs into Sally Clay. The two of them battle flames of instant attraction while trying to prove Joe's Dad didn't commit suicide.

Cheryl Norman has built multifaceted intrigue into this novel. The accident that deformed Sally's leg, Leo Desalvo's murder, attempts on Sally's and Joe's life, two more murders all weave into a fast moving suspense. Someone is making a fortune fraudulently selling classic cars that don't live up to close inspection. They're willing to do anything to keep their business going.

There is some great dialogue in this story. Humor, information, fun all mix in with the build-up of the romance and mystery. The characters are excellent. Sally is easily believable as a grease monkey spending her whole life around cars. Joe comes from a loving family, supportive of a sister who is bound to a wheelchair. He works to understand Sally's lack of self esteem due to her handicap and the relationship she has with her Dad. His grandmother is a feisty eighty-two year old who adds a lot of spunk and spirit to the story. The friends and family at the local watering hole are great.

There are a lot of twists and turns to the mystery which make it even better. We almost guess who the villains might be but a new twist or new information sends us and the amateur sleuths digging some more. The ending is everything I could hope for. Cheryl Norman does a superb job building both a love story and a nail biting suspense.
