| This marvelous book was a compilation of four couples who meet and fell in love; what they all had in common (in addition to being kin to each other, in some cases) was that either one or both of them lived in Redemption, Wisconsin. Redemption was a small town which was typical of all the small towns across the U.S. Ms. Rogers and Ms. Netzel each wrote two stories; they intertwined together flawlessly. The first two stories intersected at the town fair.
"A Fair of the Heart" told the story of a single mom, Lauren, with a troubled 10-year-old, Max, and a loveable 2-year-old, Emma; she met handyman Caleb when he came to her in-home beauty shop and noticed that her house was, literally, falling down around her. Sparks flew, but most of them were Max’s! "A Fair to Remember" introduced us to Tara and Wes; her parents and brother were very over-protective and he sported a gang tattoo which scared them to death. Of course, they would never have met had it now been for her brother’s dog, a Great Dane named Sugar! "The Perfect Blend" pitted an "out of funds" coffee shop owner, Carrie, with a multi-millionaire incognito, Matt. He offered to buy into her coffee shop and started renovations and changes without her permission. Of course sparks were going to fly! Finally, in "Grounds for Change," Charlie (Tara’s brother) and his infamous dog, Sugar, met Dana (outside the coffee shop) while she was on her way to an interview with the local vet; she was a doggie shrink! Sugar managed to help Charlie spill not one, but two, lattes all over her clothes! These characters and stories are marvelous; the two authors worked together impeccably. The people interacted so well, and the stories went together so well, it was if one person did all the writing. All eight of the main characters were so great that I had to fall in love with them and envision them all functioning together in the same town forever. I loved the book and highly recommend it!
