| On the brink of having an affair because her husband has been ignoring her, Maureen Davis comes home to quite a birthday surprise. Husband Daniel has been hiding his talents and his feelings. He picks just the right time to let them out.
Ms. Burke paints an excellent picture of a marriage on the edge of oblivion. Not enough sex, not enough communication, not enough effort being put into it. She shows us both sides of the story. We listen to Maureen and then to Daniel while he’s making last minute preparations as each tells how lonely they are without the closeness they used to have with their spouse. I’m glad she has the husband wearing the red apron, determined to serve and please his wife, it makes the story more fun. The author makes it more and more intensely sexual and loving until each gives even more than they have in their better years.
