| While attending the Dome City with her Dragul father and her peoples Queen, Crina is kidnapped by the leader of Rebel forces. During her capture, she learns these people are so much more than a bunch of law breakers. In particular, Jake the leader isn't the cold-hearted soldier that she's been led to believe.
Jake a veteran in the war and dishonorably discharged, is now the leader of a bunch of rebels. He and his followers are determined to bring back the freedom they once had prior to the Ministry imposing strict laws. Kidnapping Crina seemed like a good plan that is until he gets to know her. Marie Treanor has packed a lot into this well crafted and exciting start to a new series. I'm eager to read the next book. This is a story of a world at war. Corruption, manipulation and false propaganda all play their part. Lives lost and love found. Futuristic and sci/fi romances are often filled with way too much technical information that slows the story down for me. This is not the case with Rebel, there is enough information to pique my interest into reading more about the world and it's people. The love scenes, smolder, ignite, and are beautifully orchestrated. In particular, I hope that Rose, Nick and Zack have their own stories and that they all including Jake and Crina. Rebel easily stands alone but if like me, you won't stop at this one.
