Sharon and Mark’s romance is filled with pitfalls. He has a gay roommate who Sharon thinks Mark may secretly want. She has a father who’s homophobic and thinks Mark is gay because of the way he looks. Just when their romance is getting really hot something happens to send one of them running off home.

Ms. Hauser spins a tale that’s easy to read from first page to the last. She starts us out with Sharon coming on to Mark in an elevator and manages to add a lot of steamy scenes in a variety of places. The characters are so well drawn that Katie, Sharon’s sister or Jack, Mark’s roommate can steal the show for a while without taking anything away. The author makes it seem sometimes that Sharon is as homophobic as her dad but she works her through it.

This writer teases us and keeps us guessing about Mark. Will he make out with Jack? Will they get into a ménage? Sharon’s personality is well developed as one of those girls who is up for almost anything. The same can’t be said for her father who doesn’t want to change and the author lets him be a thorn in their side throughout. There’s some sad times when Mark talks about his parents and a visit to the family home turns into another time when they have to work through trust issues. A lot of great dialogue keeps the story fast moving and fun.
