Lacey is a transplanted artist from Ohio living in New Orleans. She adores her sometimes lover Andrew Callahan, a native of the city. She’s frustrated that he always seems to want to hide their relationship. When Andy gives her an opal ring that has been in his family for generations it seems to release both of their inhibitions in a big way. From very private to exhibitionism, is the ring really magic?

Leannan Mac Llyr crafts a great story that captures the allure of New Orleans as well as the magic of a family heirloom. In a fun way the author seems to use the ring as a catalyst to help two people realize what they’ve both been fantasizing about. Lacey is a reticent young lady who seems unable to tell Andy what she feels and wants from their relationship. We get the impression neither has told the other how they feel. Is it the ring or just the magic of communication that helps them get past the stumbling block? Meg and the policeman in the story are fun as they almost steal the tale from the lovers. This is an enjoyable, erotic read.
