| Caleb Chilson and his mate Brance Brenneman met when they were fighting on opposite sides in the Civil War. As bobcat shifters who change each night of the full moon they’ve tried to find a place far enough from civilization to have a life in both their human and feline form. They’ve settled in to a partnership that works well for them when they’re confronted with a very pregnant female bobcat.
J. M. Snyder continues this excellent series about two men who are worlds apart in temperament. Brance has always been quiet, reserved but he finally seems to be realizing and expressing how important Caleb is to him. Caleb seems to gain a sense of security in the relationship when Brance is finally able to tell him how he feels. Can’t help but feel like Ms. Snyder is reminding us with some great fiction that actions may speak louder than words but the words help solidify relationships. This is another well crafted, fun read from Ms. Snyder.
