| This series, introduced by The Wild Rose Press, will be challenged to keep up the standards set by Ms. Scott in this first offering. The first saga of the brooch is that it is missing in 1388; Lady Airin Keith’s father, Sir Douglas Keith, Earl of Arbothnott, has promised her hand in marriage to the one who can produce the original brooch. The two men who both claim to have the brooch are Jason, Earl of Bothwell, and Sir Deryll Chishom, known as the Scarlet Knight.
Jason is determined to marry her because, as her brother-in-law who was married to her younger sister, Madeline, is furious that she died without giving him an heir. He believes he deserves her legacy. Sir Deryll had long been Airin’s love interest; however, he had been gone for years and was now, in her estimation, unworthy.
There are a myriad of characters that make up this novel. The intricate way they are intertwined is amazing and extremely interesting. I read this book in one setting; I just could not stop! The massive confusion, the shady people involved, and the outcome of this book will certainly entertain the reader. As I said, this first piece of the puzzle is outstanding! I cannot wait to see the other parts revealed. I can assure you that you will not be bored and will read with bated breath! Kudos to Ms. Tarah Scott!
