Chosen by the Guardians to provide the heir to the Overlord of Maelgwn, Elizabeth Louden fears for her life. She doesn’t fear the Overlord, Micah Bleddyn, as a man, but in her lands magic use by women is punishable by death. Being the Overlord’s mate will place attention on her like never before and it will only be a matter of time before one and all know of her gifts. Micah wants a mate just as much as Elizabeth wants to be one, which is to say, not at all. He wants to be the ruler over his father’s lands even less. But when his brother vanishes without a trace he is the heir to the lands and the problems that come with them. Border invaders attack daily and someone within his own circle is out to destroy him while Elizabeth is intent on escaping before her secret is revealed. When it is apparent that they can only depend on each other they declare a truce to make it through the coming days.

Overlord’s Vessel brings together two people from two very different classes in life, but rest assured, this isn’t some modern day Cinderella. This is a story of patience, understanding, and caring that goes beyond the mere carnal needs of individuals. In the first few chapters I had a hard time accepting Micah as a lead character as his domineering and controlling attitude and mannerisms had me wishing for a softer side…somewhere! The moment the thought entered my mind, it was there. He shows tenderness with Elizabeth eventually that redeems his character post haste. Elizabeth is a strong willed and determined woman that refuses to be held down and demeaned by anyone while still showing readers a vulnerability that we love in our heroines. Their sexual encounters range from soft and tender to hours of chained up bliss. With so many secondary characters introduced, I truly hope Ms. Green plans on expanding on this novel to create a series (*cough* Asher *cough*) that readers will love.
