| Angel Ridge is one of those small towns that believes in traditions and still lives in a time where people associated with there own kind. People who have money may be nice to others below their social status but anything beyond that is frowned upon. Josie Allen knows this, and she also knows what's expected of her in this small town now that she's returned home. Even though she's an adult, she still feels like she must live up to what everyone in Angel Ridge expects from her. After having a few innocent interludes with Cole Craig she soon finds herself being reminded of exactly how the people in town expect her to act and who she shouldn't associate with. But Cole had been the only person in school to stand up for her when everyone else teased her for being a bookworm. Josie knows what the town expects from her but she soon finds herself not caring what anyone thinks. For once in her life, she stands up for herself only to learn that for years Cole Craig has fooled the whole town and now her as well.
For years, Cole let the people in town believe what they wanted to about him. He'd laughed off the remarks and prejudices all his life and he wasn't about to try to prove himself to anyone. He didn't care that they thought he was some dumb handyman, he knew the truth. Now after all these years the girl that he always dreamed about, the one that had intrigued him has moved back home. After trying for weeks to find a reason to talk to her, Cole finally gets a chance to talk to Josie. He soon realizes everything Josie may lose by having a relationship with him so he decides to step forward and let the truth about him be known to the whole town. But will his bold move to save the day cost him the only woman he's ever loved. I adored this story! Deborah Staley has truly captured how a lot of small southern towns still are today and brings those loveable country characters to life. All the characters have vivid personalities that make this simple romance seem real. I can't wait to read more of the Angel Ridge series. Simply a must read!
