| Gil Yancy had finally reached his new home. His friend, Everett Andrews, had sold him a 1/3 interest in the Rocky Point Ranch in Wyoming, and he had reached his destination. He was anxious to talk with Everett and start their planning for building the ranch into a well-known location. The first person he saw was a young woman who was working hard in a cabin near the barn area. She was much too young to be Everett’s wife. She must be the housekeeper. Why did she look so familiar?
Gil realized the woman he was questioning was right from his past. Twelve years ago, he met the woman he would come to know as Josie Andrews, widow, with an eleven-year-old daughter, Sarah Ann. Everett had sold part of the ranch to Gil to assure that he would act as trail guide for Josie’s new business venture, a woman’s retreat to experience the great outdoors. Ms. Janette Kenny has, once again, written a winning novel. I quickly became a fan after reading One Real Cowboy, her previous offering. Her characters are dynamic and sharp. The alpha male in this story, Gil Yancy, is such a magnificent specimen that it would be impossible not to fall in love with him. Josie had a stormy past and was living with a rocky present. She just did not seem able to get ahead. The greatest asset, besides the ranch Everett left her, was her daughter—the one with amazingly familiar green eyes and a nose that matched Gil’s younger sister. The storyline in this fast-paced novel was exceptional. I absolutely loved every part of the plot. I was absolutely spell-bound while reading the book. When Ms. Kenny introduced Gil’s family members, she opened up the story to even more wonderfully written characters. The dangers and obstacles of the book just made the story more powerful. I absolutely loved the book and highly recommend it to anyone whether or not they are historical (western) lovers. The book is such that all will be glad to have read it. Great job, Ms. Kenny!
