Never having read any of Ms. Kane's books before, I have to say this book had me enthralled from the beginning. With the prologue at the start, it showed this book was going to be full of suspense and action, and boy did it deliver it in amazing style through the development of the two main characters, the plot and the dialogue. The dialogue was highly intense because of the tense love-hate relationship between Reghan and Dev. Moreover, due to their reluctant truce, the dialogue was also full of drama as Dev found it hard to forgive Reghan for her expose while the heroine found it hard to trust a man that lived a lie due to his past. The sex scenes were hot, and only got hotter as the story progressed because of the attraction that has always been between them from the time they first met. What I liked so much about Reghan was her determination to not allow Dev to ignore her valuable information pertaining to the murders. While with Dev, I liked the fact that he didn't allow his disdain for her affect their tenuous truce as it helped him get closer to solving the murders.
Overall, this book was a fantastic read and has made me very keen to read more of Ms. Kane's work. And let's hope that there are more stories to come for the boys in blue of New Orleans.
