If you thought the ideas in 1984 were far fetched when Orwell’s book first came out, then the idea that the world could be run by totally corrupt corporations and the people’s freedoms greatly reduced by constant monitoring won’t seem unusual.

Twenty-first century Police Officer Mike Forrester accidentally grabs onto Shauna Wentworth’s wrist just as she is returning to her time in the twenty-second century and he finds that he has traveled over one hundred years into the future. Shauna is in big trouble and the couple soon finds that they are number one on the worldwide most wanted list. It seems that Shauna’s parents may have uncovered a huge scandal that could bring down the leaders of the four huge corporations running the world in her time and now Shauna and Mike are right in the middle of the battle to suppress the truth from the public. While running from the global military police, Shauna and Mike also fall in love. Can they survive long enough to enjoy each other and how will they manage living in two separate centuries if they do survive?

This is a outstanding story that fits the old adage that “absolute power, corrupts absolutely!” Much like some of the corruption we see in the world today, greed is a force that motivates some people to do almost anything to achieve their goals. In Mike’s time the seeds of corruption are planted and nurtured by a group whose goal is to run the world and by Shauna’s time they have been successful. Shauna and Mike are both very intelligent, strong minded and loyal characters and these traits help put them on the path to fighting a war against the “Fearsome Foursome.” Mike own sense of justice won’t let him just return home and leave the problem to Shauna and as they spend more time together their burgeoning feelings for one another won’t let them quit! The danger Shauna and Mike have to face as they try to flee the bad guys adds to the suspense. Then the couple must jump from one dangerous situation to another in an attempt to find the truth behind the corruption, while constantly on the lookout for the police force who have unlimited resources to tap to try to catch them. Plus they must face betrayal as they discover who is really on their side and if there might be a mole in Shauna’s parent’s organization. If you are looking for a thought provoking story about what could happen in our future if we just delegate the running of our world to others, then read No Future Christmas!
