| Talon Montgomery, 29 year-old bastard son of James Sinclair, 6th Earl of Sutcliffe, had been in Newgate Prison for 5 months when his father finally answered his plea for help. When Talon’s ship The Star of the West, was apprehended and the captain and crew were charged with treason and piracy, he had written to his father but until now, he had been ignored. Of course, for him to be released, he would have to pay a price. His half brother, Daniel, Viscount Lansdowne, had a beautiful wife, but was uninterested because of his on-going affair with Philip, Lord Carrington. The Earl of Sutcliffe wanted an heir; it would be Talon’s responsibility to seduce Kathryn and impregnate her.
Predictably, when Kate (Talon’s nickname for Daniel’s wife) met her brother-in-law, sparks flew. She was unaware of Daniel’s preference for men; her father-in-law made her feel as if it was her fault that he did not have any interest. Until she walked in on Daniel and Philip, she had no idea why he was so indifferent! That was the first time that Talon comforted her. It seemed that she was the only one who did not know of her husband’s sexual preferences. This novel by Diana Bold is a very detailed account of three young people who, for different reasons, were unloved and unwanted. They created a bond, of sorts, which wavered back and forth throughout the story. A myriad of emotional contacts by the three found them all searching for that illusive “something” that was constantly missing in each of their lives. This plot is unique, with explicit sexual situations, which are wonderfully created by Ms. Bold. Nobody’s Hero is a fantastically written book which will interest even the savviest reader. I highly recommend it to all who are fans of historical romance.
