Many years after meeting her husband’s business associate, Thomas Van Wyck, Amelia Bennington Sinclair celebrated her 51st birthday on December 1, 1899. Her husband had died after 34 years of marriage, and now she was ready to begin the second part of her life. She was going to find her Tommy! She and Tommy fell in love all those years ago when he came for a business dinner engagement and was forced, by carriage problems, to stay for a week. During that time, they planned their future after all the obstacles were removed.

Ms. Bowling is a wonderful story teller. She uses her strong verbal skills to show the impact of a life lived as required in 1899; without options which would upset her children and impact the society which her husband served (and prospered from) through his bank. It is extremely easy to visualize this 51-year-old woman closing up her house and following her heart regardless of how confused her children were.

Never Too Late allows the reader to dream about the possibility of starting over after the prime of life. It gives hope to ones who felt obligated to endure an unhappy life’s choice, even though there are now other options. I loved this story; it was a beautiful, hopeful quick-read which will leave a hopeful “spring in your step!” I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone, even those not interested in the historical genre.
