Carrie Metzer was raised by her grandmother. Since Phyllis Workman, aka Sneaky Trickster Grandma, was scheduled to go on a month-long cruise, Carrie agreed to take care of The Woofs and Whiskers, an animal rescue shelter. Carrie was grossed out because she spent so much time with a pooper scupper and plastic bag. She also had to clean cages and exercise the animals and try to get them adopted by people in the community. She did, however, become attached to the animals.

Her new neighbors were Seth Harborn and his two children, Brenna, aged 5, and Jack, 3. His ex-wife, Georgia, left them to “find herself.” Seth did not trust women, but he made friends with Carrie when he took the children to get a puppy—they came home with two. Seth had moved his family to the small town to start over and to build his three art galleries.

Ms. Misty Simon did a great job of telling this story. Carrie had a hidden agenda and she and Seth both were determined to stay single, until.... Simon showed how a family could look ahead while still bearing scars from previous conflict. She took the family and the single woman through the trauma of missed affections and responsibilities. This was a poignant look at how two people could affect the lives of many with their simple daily decisions.

The ups and downs that this author wrote insured that the book would not be like any others. She had unique situations and ways to handle them. She kept the storyline interesting and sensual. The sex was handled tastefully and made the book so spellbinding that I truly could not put it down.

I highly recommend this book for a great story which most everyone will enjoy. The book should be on everyone’s “To be read” list. It’s also a great look into animal rescue.
