| Bethany, Samantha, and Jessica were three best friends who were going for a couple of weeks to a Montana vacation place, Twin Rivers Ranch and Lodge. Samantha and Jessica were going for a “working” vacation—spend part of their time doing ranching duties. Bethany, engaged to Brad, did not plan to do anything but rest and play.
Samantha, a nurse with her own horse and dog, was planning to escape her domineering rich parents who were trying to force her to marry a rich man she did not like. She was thrilled when the nephew of the owners, Dalton MacLaine, showed his interest in her. She was sure that he was not interested in her financial status, since he was unaware she had anything. They became an item which escalated quickly into unspoken love on both sides. Jessica and his younger brother, Clay, also became a couple. Ms. Sloan Seymour has captured the essence of what is great about cowboys, ranching and horses. This author writes as an authority on horses and the companionship they, as well as other animals, provide. She has taken an interesting scenario and stirred up the equations until an incredible storyline has emerged. This plot is fresh and exceedingly fascinating. I personally love cowboy stories; this one definitely is one of the best. The characters were so understandably strong, yet they’re headstrong. The more information we received as we read and the main couple encountered, the worse their relationship became. Ms. Seymour was able to show the peaks and valleys faced when a young couple falls in love so fast and then face hardships. What’s not to like, right? The poignant manner in which this story played out brought tears to my eyes several times. There was so much joy and then despondency shown that it was almost inevitable that the ending would shock the reader. This book gave me several hours of enjoyment, some time of tears, and, finally, an ending that was totally unexpected. Ms. Seymour has made a name for herself in the literary world. This book is one for the charts. I highly recommend it to anyone.
