| Midnight Shelby left her ex-husband and the big city corporate life after a failed 20-year marriage. She picked Legend, Tennessee, a small town of 6,000, from a map. She needed a fresh start. What she didn't need was a man. Her parents travelled, were artists and were willing to help stock her new store with some of their art.
Martin McClain was the local realtor in Legend. He lived with his 13-year-old son David. His ex-wife had left when their son was very small. Martin had no trust and no intention of trusting another woman. Suspicious of any new residents in his town, Martin was not interested in furthering the potential earnings of their small town. He liked it just fine, thank you very much. Ms. Magdalena Scott is author of some of my favorite books. She and some of her friends have developed a wonderful series about the town of Legend, Tennessee. This particular book is a fabulous example how a small-town environment can function with mixed feelings. Her insight into the life and feelings of small towns is perfect. She developed her characters with mixed emotional baggage, differing expectations of their town, and intertwined perfectly with the previous books I've read. Ms. Scott's characters were presented in such a way it was impossible not to love them. The secondary townsfolk worked impressively with the main couple. I actually felt as if I was living in that small town. Having just returned from the area (fictionally) represented here, I can honestly state that she portrayed the shops, people and expectations in those mountains of Tennessee. I loved this book and highly recommend it. I must warn you, however, that she will quickly become addictive.
