Laura wants revenge against Jack. The way they'd met had been the stuff of romance novels. An exciting exchange of glances across a crowded room led to the start of a wonderful six month romance. Then out of the blue, Laura catches Jack in the worst possible situation with another woman, a blonde, in an alley. Now as she has sex with whomever she can pick up, not caring who they are. She's getting back at Jack for cheating on her.

Masquerading Hearts is shorter work and the writer herself is quite talented. Yet for her skill at telling this story in first person and her provocative sensual scenes, this story misses the mark. It's incredibly sexy with lots of innuendo and several sex scenes including one involving a group. It has just the right type of plot, not too complex, to use in a shorter work. I just didn't feel the cause of the rift between these two characters was convincing nor did I feel much of an emotional bond with either of them. Emotion is a crucial point for me in romance, the primary reason that the story didn't entirely work for me. That being said, a reader who's looking for a high level of sensuality and doesn't need the emotional investment will find this tale very entertaining.
