| Scarlet, after a near escape from falling prey to destruction, manages to get away with his friend, Liall. It is a journey he knows will likely be long and arduous. Each knew the mariners were watching them, and their actions. They didn¢t wish to draw attention to themselves. The journey, for the pedlar and bandit, no doubt would be four months by sea as they boarded the Rshani brigantine among not so friendly company. Nothing warned Scarlet if he followed Liall that he would fall into even more danger than fighting off the bounty-hunters that were after the greedy, Liall. After receiving a message, Liall must return to his adopted home. He hopes by returning he can regain his past but the hazards of ice and wind, not to mention the giant Northmen crew soon proves to be more than what they bargained for, especially when Liall has a feeling someone doesn¢t wish to see him reach his home. He never meant for any peril to befall Scarlet. Neither knew what adventures or jeopardy would confront them as Liall pursues his conquest but Scarlet is certain the plight will not be easy.
Mariner¢s Luck is the continuation of Scarlet and Liall and their adventures. I can just imagine what the others thought when they saw Scarlet and Liall, a dubious pair indeed on this journey. The danger is so relevant the reader gets caught up wondering what twists will take place next and if they will be separated in their actions. I liked the way the sensual tension is put into play. Once again Kirby Crowe opens up a fantasy world filled with mayhem and magic. When Liall jumps to his feet, about the magic of the Hilurin, his whole being practically lifts off the pages. Characters so robust, so gutsy, and motivating, make this read another fantasy exploration most hard to put down.
