| Brynn Dexter is thrilled about her new job. She will teaching kindergarten overseas in the country of Laurivenia. It is the opportunity of a lifetime and despite some worries, she is sure this will be a grand adventure.
Except, as it turns out, the position is a fake. The real position is as teacher and nanny to the Prince of Laurivenia's young daughter, Carissa. Prince Philippe Alexandre du Charbonneaux definitely has all the looks of a Prince Charming, but as far as Brynn is concerned, he has the personality of a snake in the grass. She cannot believe how he deceived her into coming. Now Alex has some fast talking to do to convince Brynn to stay and teach Carissa. Though he initially was against having a young woman teach his daughter, after meeting Brynn, he is sure she will be the perfect woman to help his daughter come out of her shell a bit. And well, if he finds her very attractive, that is just something he will keep under wraps. Alex has no plans to fall in love again. But somehow, Brynn is working her way into his heart and into his family. Kate Davies plays up the fairy tale aspects of this story with great success! Brynn is sweet, tough, intelligent, and just a really great woman. It's no wonder Alex started falling for her almost instantaneously. She is a very warm personality that lights up this entire story. As for Alex, he is a charmer! He may have had some bad experiences in the past with women, but he does not let that stop him from embracing the care and kindness Brynn brings to his home. He was truly a Prince Charming and I felt that while this story definitely was a bit too good to be true, Kate Davies nevertheless kept it realistic with some horrifying paparazzi moments. Carissa is a sweetheart and surely the apple of her father's eye. She brings joy to this story just as much as the romance does. Now, I would love to see a sequel starring Alex's twin sister Lucia. Lessons in Love was perhaps nothing too new or fresh in regards to the prince and commoner theme, but it was definitely an enchanting romance that will take you back to a time when you believed fairy tales would always come true.
