At a crossroads in his life, Gill has retired from 20 years on the force and is trying to decide where to go and what to do with his life. He ends up in Jamesville at his friend Patrick’s brother’s wedding where he meets Alicia. Instantly attracted to each other, they head to her place for a one night stand. Not willing to risk her reputation, Alicia won’t give Baron her name nor does she want to see him again. However, Gill has met the woman of his dreams. He can’t stop thinking of her. Once he finds her, how is he going to convince her to give him and their relationship a chance?

The inhabitants of Jamesville just get better and better. Not only are Gill and Alicia’s characters full of life, but we got more info on other people in Jamesville. The supporting characters helped to bring the town to life even more. While I would have liked to have seen more of the characters from previous books, the new characters we met more than filled the void. The plot is very plausible and could happen in any small town across America today. Those who have grown up in a small town will feel special connection to this story. I felt as if I was part of the story.

The love scenes are not for the tame of heart. They are full of heat and flames and very sensual. The instant attraction flies off the pages and will trap you in their fire. Be prepared to take a cold shower and make sure to have your fan turned on. If not careful, you could overheat!

I can’t wait to see what story Ms. Walters brings us next from Jamesville. If you enjoy a good modern day romance that is full of sensuality and heat, you will not be disappointed with A Legal Affair. This book deals with a very real issue of how a small town can be prejudiced against a person because of their gender and their career and how those issues affect them.
