| Merryn Porter saves her best friends’ lives when lightning strikes a tree on their wedding day but she’s hit and knocked out. She wakes to see the man who rejected her years before.
Thus begins this well written tale of Fate’s hand in the lives of people who love. Merryn and Luke are given a second chance at loving one another because they risked their lives to save friends or strangers. Previous authors have written a similar tale but I think Antonia Pearce has gone a step above by fleshing it out with reality. She actually lets us hear the sadness in Luke because he didn't do what he should have in the first place. We see them living their lives, acting out their love in a most erotic way. There’s a little extra flavor to the way Ms. Pearce does it. So much so that I was crying with Merryn, laughing at her witticisms and feeling the story, feeling the surprises and shocks she was going through. Sometimes an author’s choice of words can imbue a story with just that extra touch of magic that makes us wish it were true. These characters are so well done that I really think this writer has put that smidgen of fairy dust into this story that makes it just that much better than other.
