Sir John Neville, son of the Earl of Salisbury and brother to the Earl of Warwick knows well the duty to the King. As an honorable knight, he is at a feast when he sees the lovely Lady Isobel Ingoldesthorpe of the Lancastrian camp and invites her to dance. Isobel is a ward in Queen Marguerite’s Lancastrian court. At the age of fifteen, she is always greeted with many suitors but there is only one that catches her eye, the handsome John. To the Queen, John is considered an enemy but she will permit the marriage between Isobel and John for the right price. They both realize the trouble their marriage will create among many but they are willing to take the chance. As time progresses and wars increase, Isobel and John stand their ground through every obstacle bad or good as their cycle of love continues to blossom. Throughout everything, Isobel will do everything for her marriage, always remembering her loyalties.

Lady of the Roses is a poignant tale. The romance that shines between Isobel and John is breathtakingly told. This story is so moving; I found it not only blissfully enduring, but sweetly told in a way that left an impact upon this reader. I was glued to my seat from beginning to end. Sandra Worth tells a wonderful story. I can tell she really did much research to make the novel perfect. It captured my heart in a way that was really hard to say goodbye at the end. The way she depicts the characters, and the historical setting, is breathtaking for that era. She takes a young Isobel and molds her into a robust woman that carries on beautifully through every event. This story shouldn’t be missed. It is like a treasure one holds to always.
