| Cat Johnson has done it once again!! She has written another trilogy about three women who were best friends who managed to get into lots of trouble, but with each other’s help, survived the possible disasters. These three women were in absolute awe because their 4th friend, Belinda, was now traveling through Europe with the new man in her life. These three, Donna, Jade and Grace, got together constantly and whined about never having their own beautiful relationships.
“Private Investigations” starts with the three trying to spy on Jade’s boyfriend, Daniel, because he is working late a lot and never seems to be available. Donna goes with her to “stake out” his apartment building and finally, after midnight, they go up to his apartment and (while on their knees listening at the door) try to hear the noises within! Another tenant on the same floor, Sam Smith, finds them. H is a retired cop who started working as a private investigator. The Barbie-looking Jade always gets attention; but this time, he seems to be interested in Donna! “Between Love and Hate” surrounds the saga of Jade and her “cheating” Daniel! She uses Sam’s services, gets a woman’s picture, and tries to understand why Daniel can be so loving and sweet to her even while he is cheating. Jade’s friends come to her rescue to help her survive this mess, even going as far as setting her up with a man from Grace’s office to make Daniel jealous. Finally, “Saving Grace” gives us insight into Grace’s situation. She has always felt like the overweight one, the one who never gets the guy. Now Valentine’s Day is upon them and everybody will have a boyfriend except her. She starts getting gifts and messages from a secret admirer who obviously works in her attorneys’ firm but she does not know who it could be. Ms. Johnson uses humor and sensitivity to describe the situations her characters get into. These strong personalities and their escapades make this trilogy another winning title. I guarantee that again she rises to the top in her field!
